“More fun under the sun” is the motto of Casino Del Sol Resort, a richly appointed 215-room casino hotel and spa operated by the Pascua Yaqui Indian Nation southwest of Tucson. The resort is just minutes west of the Tucson airport.
In December 2013, Casino Del Sol opened Sewailo Golf Club, a Notah Begay signature golf course. The 7,400-yard course features 14 lakes, a waterfall, meandering creeks and 30,000 flowering desert plants. Sewailo is the home course of the Arizona Wildcats men’s and women’s golf teams. Sewailo means “flower land” in the Yaqui language.
Casino Del Sol was awarded four stars by the Forbes Travel Guide and four diamonds by AAA. The resort features more than 65,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and convention space. Amenities include the full-service Hiapsi spa, and several restaurants and lounges, including PY Steakhouse, Prema Lounge and Starbucks.
Golf Channel commentator and four-time PGA Tour winner Notah Begay, a full-blooded New Mexico Pueblo Indian, designed Sewailo and incorporated “risk-reward” elements into many holes. Sewailo features a 22.100-square-foot double green. It is managed by Troon Golf.
