John Glozek grew up on Long Island. His first love before golf was music even though he was in a family of golf enthusiasts – actually, it was just his father who was a golf enthusiast.
At the early age of 10 John started taking drum lessons, which ultimately led to a professional music career as a drum instructor. As a proficient drummer in his own John’s band performed throughout the New York tri-state area in the mid -1970s and 180s. Not completely satisfied with just playing music, he began to write and publish drum instructional materials – ultimately creating a magazine for drummers titled “Drum Tracks,” which was distributed throughout the United States.
There was also a period in John’s life where he was employed at Grumman Aerospace Corporation. It was there he finally became involved in golf. His father, who had been playing golf for many years, said, “it’s about time.”
As with the magazine Drum Tracks, just playing golf was not enough for John. After researching the demographics of golf on Long Island, he decided there was a market for a regional golf magazine dedicated to Long Island golfers. In October 1989, he published the first issue of a new golf magazine named Long Island Golfer Magazine, which featured professional golfers Raymond Floyd and Jim Albus.
As the magazine grew, it was time for a name change to NYGOLF Magazine. If one magazine was not enough, John started a second publicatio entitled, GOLF DESTINATIONS Magazine.
John is currently the president of the International Network of Golf, one of the golf industry’s largest associations bringing the golf media and golf industry together.
John is a member of Mill River Club and lives in Woodbury (just eight miles from the Bethpage Black course – site of the U.S. Open, PGA Championship and the 2025 Ryder Cup).
