Barry Cronin is the editor of Chicago District Golfer magazine, an award-winning publication printed six times a year and distributed to the CDGA’s 112,000 Chicago-area members.  The magazine carries at least one major travel article per month (typically 5-6 pages). Travel articles are focused on everything from regional to international golf destinations.

Barry worked in daily journalism for 17 years at Chicago’s City News Bureau, the St. Petersburg (now Tampa Bay) Times and the Chicago Sun-Times, where one of his assignments was the Golf beat. He escaped daily journalism to the world of PR and entrepreneurism but has never forgotten the daily pain and stress of his newspaper days.

Barry has been the media director of the John Deere Classic since 2000, handled local PR for many of the major championships that have come through Chicago and worked tournament PR for the Western Golf Association for seven years. Taking over the magazine has been fun, challenging and a real blessing to get back into journalism.
