Tom BedellLong the regular golf correspondent for American Airlines’ late luxury magazine Celebrated Living, award-winning writer Tom Bedell has dug divots into courses all over the world, from Iceland to Abu Dhabi. His writing has more recently appeared in Golf Travel Wire, The First Call, SI.com, The Met Golfer Traveler and others. He writes a regular column in Golf Oklahoma reviewing golf books.

Before he began writing about golf, Tom had established his chops as a beer expert. As far as he knows, he is the only member of both the Golf Travel Writers Association and the North American Guild of Beer Writers. A certified beer judge, Tom has won various writing awards from the Guild. The two interests sometimes intersect—golf articles in beer magazines, beer articles in golf magazines. Tom says the research is killing him, but it sounds like a canard.

Tom is also a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and served as the organization’s president in 1989-1990. He has been a writing instructor since 1984 on university to local levels and for many years through the Long Ridge Writers Group correspondence course; he still nurtures hope that, one day, he can convey the correct usage of the semi-colon.
