Edmonton Course Has Hosted Multiple Canadian Tour Events
I spent the July long weekend in Edmonton, a little R & R and of course a round of golf – lots of choices in the Edmonton area and I always enjoy a round at The Ranch Golf Club.
Located just five minutes west of Edmonton off Highway 16A, The Ranch is well suited to all levels of golfers from those new to the game to those with low handicaps.
In fact, they have hosted the Mackenzie Tour Canada multiple times and depending on tee choices The Ranch will give you all that you can manage in a round.
The course is the work of Western Golf Projects and offers variety off the tee on each hole as it works its way through natural forested areas, several ponds, creek beds and very strategically placed bunkers… just for added variety and a taste of Scotland, there are several links-style holes woven into the mix. The grounds crew and head superintendent do a really great job of keeping the course in good shape, even with the slow start to 2018, the course is rounding into good shape.
The par 71 layout from the tips measures 6,522 yards but don’t let the yardage fool you – accuracy off the tee pays a premium and with four sets of tees the course is extremely playable for all.
If you’re looking for great clothing, check out their fully stocked pro shop offering a wide range of top lines or if you’re in need of a new set of clubs or need to add a wedge or putter, the pro shop carries all the top brand names. Grab a bite to eat or enjoy a beverage on the deck after your round – great food and service. It’s well worth the short trip to the west end! More
